    "Sophia,

We have returned home and we are going through our many pictures (around 700). We had a wonderful visit to your beautiful country and I must say that working with you and the tour guides made it even more special. When we return to that side of the world, we will be contacting you again. We still need to come to Guilin and see the beautiful sights that you see every day.

Angela was great. She is a pleasant and pretty young lady and she knows so much about the sights in Chengdu. My son really liked talking to her.

Peter was very good but his English can use some improvement. He was extremely patient with us and accommodated our needs wonderfully.

May was also very good and professional. It is obvious she knows her subject and she is a great sales person.

I look forward to using your services again. Thank you for everything and thank you for the gift. It is hanging on the wall in my home. I think of you every time I see it.

    Sincerely,

    Andersen "

    [West Lake]
West Lake has an area of 5.6 square kilometers (2.2 square miles) and is the symbol of Hangzhou which lies on its banks and is a place of tranquility. A visit to Fairy Island is worth it to see on of the Ten Best Views of West Lake - Three Pools Mirroring the Moon. The occasional pagoda and Chinese-style arched bridges add atmosphere to the tree-lined walkways, verdant islands and hills make West Lake a very special part of any China experience.

“Lots to do and lots to see”
    Reviewed May 27, 2012
This attraction is the reason to go to Hangzhou. It is a beautiful area with lots of neat things to see and do. We went out on the lake in a gondola and really enjoyed the excursion. There is a lot of nice landscaping around the entire property. Nearby are some nice places to eat.

    [Three Pools Mirroring the Moon]
Three Pools Mirroring the Moon, shown on the 1 RMB note, is located in the south central portion of Hangzhou’s West Lake. The name also refers to Xiaoying Island, one of the three islands in West Lake, along with Mid-Lake Pavilion (Hu Xin Ting) and Ruan Gong Islet (Ruan Gong Dun). The three pools refer to the three pear-shaped pagodas arranged in a triangle in the water. Erected by the poet and public official Su Shi, their purpose was to indicate that water chestnuts and lotus plants were not allowed to be grown in the area to prevent silt from building up in the lake. Later, during the reign of Emperor Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, the three pagodas were rebuilt. The existing ones were reconstructed in 1699 during the 38th year of Emperor Kangxi’s reign in the Qing Dynasty.

The pagodas are around 2 meters high with hollow interiors. The belly of each pagoda has five circular holes, into which lamps or candles can be placed, especially on mid-autumn nights when the bright moon hangs in the sky. When the circular holes are covered with sheets of thin paper, beams of light will reflect on the water through the holes. The moonlight, lamplight and lake light add radiance and charm to one another.

Hangzhou is the home of the 'arts' and they have fantastic art and culture. This was on my bucket list and I am so happy to have gone there. The people make you feel really welcomed which makes the experience so much better.

    [Lingyin Temple & Feilai Peak]
Lingyin Temple is one of the ten most famous ancient Buddhist temples in China. It also houses various Buddhist literature and treasures situated in front of the Temple, and is famous for its more than 470 stone carvings of Buddhist figures, which dated from the 10th to 14th centuries.

Fei Lai Feng (also named Ling Jiu Feng), stands next to Ling Yin Temple and is a must-see in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. There are many legends about the peak's name. A well-known legend states that an Indian monk named Huili arrived in the valley 1,600 years ago and was surprised to see a peak so dissimilar from any other one in the valley. He believed that the peak had flown over from India because the shape, although unique in China, was common in India. However, he did not know why the peak would have flown to this spot so far from his country. Hence the peak's name was created and has passed down to the present day.

“Stone carvings on rocks are beautiful”
    Reviewed April 9, 2012
The temple is without doubt highlight of a trip to Hangzhou and is also as one of the 10 most famous Buddhist temples of China. Getting there: The stone carvings in the grottoes/rock faces as you walk around the grounds are beautiful and the various temples containing various statues are also quite beautiful.

    “A stunning residence”
    Reviewed March 24, 2012
My husband and I visited this huge and gorgeous residence of a former wealthy businessman and at the same time a high ranked official. We were accompanied by our personal guide who gave us all the useful informations. This residence covers almost the entire block with very detailed and sophisticated constructions. Many historians believe that Mr. Hu was actually from other province of China instead of a local of Hangzhou from some stones sculptures on the wall of the atrium and a raised wall (Horse Head Wall), ponds, gardens, furnitures, and French glass windows; one can imagine how wealthy Mr. Hu was. It was amazing to know there's a cave underneath a building which can fit 20 to 30 people to stay inside avoiding the Summer heat. It's totally worth to see and to learn the way wealthy people lived at that period of time. His Chinese herb pharmacy still opens on an old street in Hangzhou (Hefang Street) and is one of the three most famous pharmacies in China.

[Six Harmonies Pagoda] Liu He Tower
The Six Harmonies Pagoda is located on Yuelun Hill overlooking the Qiantang River, and south of West Lake (Xi Hu) and is one of the true masterpieces of ancient Chinese architectures. Originally the pagoda was built during the Northern Song Dynasty (386-581) by the ruler of the Wuyue State, a part of which became Zhejiang Province. The name 'Liuhe' comes from the six Buddhist ordinances and it is said that the reason for building this pagoda is to calm the tidal waters of the Qiantang River, and as a navigational aid. However, the pagoda was completely destroyed during a battle in the year 1121.

    “Good View”
    Reviewed 25 December 2011
This was my third visit to this temple and the first opportunity to climb up to the top of the pagoda. From the top we can see a river on the front and a mountain on the back. I think the best timing of visit would be during autumn leaves season.

The ride into this area, surounded by terraced hills and fields of green tea, was in-and-of-itself worth the visit. In addition, the tea presentation in the tea room, including tea tasting, was informative and enjoyable. There is definitely the "sell" element at the end of the presentation but it was handled graciously. We are delighted with the Emperor's tea that we bought and have incorporated it into our daily life. Don't miss this experience!

    [Wuzhen Water Town]
Located in the centre of the six ancient towns south of Yangtze River, 17 kilometres (10.56 miles) north of the city of Tongxiang, Wuzhen Water Town displays its two-thousand-year history in its ancient stone bridges floating on mild water, its stone pathways between the mottled walls and its delicate wood carvings. Also, setting it apart from other towns, it gives a unique experience through its profound cultural background.

Wuzhen's uniqueness lies in its layout, being 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) long and divided into six districts. These are: Traditional Workshops District, Traditional Local-Styled Dwelling Houses District, Traditional Culture District, Traditional Food and Beverage District, Traditional Shops and Stores District, and Water Township Customs and Life District. Wandering along the east-west-east circuit created by these six districts, you will enjoy the atmosphere of the traditional cultures and the original ancient features of the town that have been preserved intact.

    “Old China at its BEST!”
    Reviewed June 14, 2012
I wasn't disappointed. All the young people want to just see the NEW China. i wanted to see the old China and Wuzhen, the ancient water city, is defintiely the place to go. It is true - you have to take a boat to get to your room in one of the hostels - so unique! I thoroughly enjoyed the lights at night and the lite up boats. The evening just sparkled and the sunset from our room was magnificent. Some of my best pictures are from this little village. I wrote home that Wuzhen is the Disney Epcot of China. Don't miss it.
