Fukuoka

Fukuoka is the capital city of Fukuoka Prefecture. Rakusuien Garden

Hakata merchant Shimozawa Zenemon Chikamasa built his vacation home, called “Rakusuien”, in Meiji Era (1868 - 1912). In 1995, Fukuoka City overhauled the structure and reopened it as a Japanese garden where visitors can experience a tea ceremony.

Hakozaki Shrine

The shrine is highly ranked among the many shrines in Japan. It was listed in Engishiki-jinmyocho edited in 927.

Fukuoka City Museum

Located in the Seaside Momochi Area, this museum is one of the famous tourist spots of Fukuoka City.

Maizuru Park

This park is built around Fukuoka castle ruins and located within just 15 minutes from Tenjin (the center of Fukuoka city). It is well known as a viewing spot of cherry blossom and other seasonal plants and flowers.

Tochoji Temple

It was founded by Kukai with support from Tadayuki Kuroda, the second lord of Fukuoka province, and construction was completed in 806, making it the oldest Shingon temple in Kyushu.

Shikanoshima

The island is known as the spot where the golden block seal (stamp), a national treasure, was excavated.
