Matsumoto

Matsumoto is located in Nagano Prefecture. It is designated as a Special City. The Matsumoto Castle was built more than 400 years ago.is one of the most complete and beautiful among Japan's original castles. It is a "hirajiro" - a castle built on plains rather than on a hill or mountain. It is also called Crow Castle(Karasu Jo) because of its black appearance. The castle is open to tourists and displays many ancient weapons from and inspired by Europe including muskets and rifles.

Matsumoto Alpspark

A little bit further up on the same hill as Joyama Park is Alps Park, a spacious community park with a few groups of cherry trees and a beautiful weeping cherry tree.

Ishii Miso Brewery

Ishii Miso Brewery was founded in 1868 and is still producing miso by a unique traditional and natural method. In Ishii Miso Brewery, you can see inside the brewery and have a lunch made using their miso. One special thing about this brewery is that they ferment the miso for over three years.

Matsumoto City Timepiece Museum

The biggest feature of the museum is that many of the timepieces are displayed working.
