Jigokudani, or "Hell Valley", a phenomenal volcanic valley situated just above the town, which is the source of its outstanding thermal waters - and rumoured to be inhabited by "oni", Japanese ogres or demons!

Noboribetsu Onsen Flower Tunnel
3,000 cherry blossom trees line this seven-kilometer straight road to make one Hokkaido’s most iconic sakura scenes. Frequently listed among the “top cherry blossoms” official Japanese ranking, the road was originally created for the Imperial Family as an avenue driveway to their Hokkaido holiday home.
Oku no Yu
Grayish black sulfurous hot spring water violently bubbles out of the vent formed by the conical base of this pond, an explosion crater of Mt. Hiyori. The surface temperature of it varies from 75°c to over 85°c. Hot spring activity is especially dramatic in the area in front of the pond and around its center, giving the place the appearance of a kettle on the boil.
Orofure Pass
Orofure Pass connecting Noboribetsu Onsen and Toyako Onsen. Cloud sea are popular locally. The reason is the spectacular scenery when the sea of clouds can not be seen, the sunset and the morning sun in that magnificent view.
Hiyoriyama Viewing Platform
Hiyoriyama is still an active volcano that whirls in the white smoke today. Although it is only 377 meters high, it is located at a high altitude, which is why many alpine plants grow here. Viewing Platform on this mountain have a panoramic views, including the Onuma, Okunoyu and Jigokudani.
Sengen Park
It is located almost to the entrance to Jigokudani. Best view would be from outside and visitor should bear in mind it only spouts every 3 hour.
