Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route

The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is known as the “Roof of Japan”. The main attraction is the magnificent scenery of the Tateyama Mountain Range, part of the Chubu Sangaku National Park. Summer and autumn attract visitors with beautiful landscapes, alpine flowers (especially around June through August) and autumn leaves. It is a unique and spectacular route through the Northern Japan Alps which is traversed by various means of transportation including cablecars, trolley buses and a ropeway.

Midagahara

Midagahara is around 30 minutes from Bijo Plain by Kogen Bus. On the way, you can see Shomyo Falls, Japan’s highest waterfall, from the window of the bus. The alpine scenery offers completely different views from Bijo Plain.

Daikanbo

There is a rooftop observation point with a terrace above the clouds, where you can relax in a chair and look out across a vast panorama including Lake Kurobe and the Ushiro-tateyama Ranges.

Tateyama Tamadono Spring Water

Spring water gushing from a fractured zone was discovered when the Tateyama Tunnel was under construction. The water retains a temperature between two to five degrees celsius all year round.This delicious natural spring water has quenched the thirst of many visitors.

Mikurigaike Hot Spring

This is the highest altitude natural hot spring in Japan. Half way along the Mikurigaike pond course there is a rest are where you can take a bath in a hot spring during the daytime. You can also enjoy an ice cream here.

Kurobe Lake Pleasure Boat

The Kurobe Dam or Kuroyon Dam, is a 186 m high variable-radius arch dam located on the Kurobe River in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. The tallest dam in Japan, it supports the 335 MW Kurobe No. 4 Hydropower Plant and is owned by Kansai Electric Power Company.

Tateyama Nature Conservation Center

This facility was established to study the rich nature of Tateyama and bring visitors into contact with it. Rare plants and animals from the Tateyama area are on display here.
