Mountains

Japan is also a country of mountains besides its traditional culture and technologically advanced cities. More than 70% of the volcanic archipelago is covered by towering volcanic peaks and snow capped summits.These mountains offers more than spectacular scenery,they are also important religious and cultural significance, and provide outdoor sports for adventurers.

Mt. Asahidake

The mountain is popular with hikers in the summer and can be easily reached from Asahidake Onsen via Asahidake Ropeway. During winter, the mountain is open for use by skiers and snowboarders.

Osorezan

Mount Osorezan (恐山) is ranked along with Koyasan and Hieizan as one of Japan's three most sacred places. It was discovered over 1000 years ago by a Buddhist priest in search of a sacred mountain that resembles the world of Buddha. Today, it is the site of Bodaiji Temple.

Mt. Rokko

Mount Rokko (931 meters) is the highest peak in the Rokko mountain range, which provides the pleasant green backdrop to the city of Kobe.

Mt.Iwaki

Mount Iwaki is a compound volcano located in the southwest portion of the Tsugaru Plain. The mountain has a conical shape with three peaks. Standing 1,625 meters high, it is the highest mountain in the prefecture.The summit offers a panoramic view stretching as far as Matsumaezaki in Hokkaido.

Mt. Maya

Mount Maya is one of the major peaks of the Rokko Mountains, and is the most popular peak for visitors on the West-Rokko Mountains.

Darumayama(Mt.Daruma)

The beautiful scenery around Darumayama is used for TV CM, and, as for Nishi-Izu skyline, popular lord becomes drive and touring, cycling. 982m above sea level. Because the north and the west fall into Suruga Bay, view is good, and view of Mount Fuji over Suruga Bay in particular is fantastic.

Mount Yufu

Mount Yufu is a 1,583.3 m (5,195 ft) volcano, located on the border of Yufu and Beppu, Ōita, Japan.

Mount Inasa yama

Mount Inasayama is a 333 meter high mountain in close distance to Nagasaki's city center. be reached by ropeway, bus or car and offers great views over the city. In factfrom Mount Inasa are ranked among Japan's three best night views besides the views from Mount Hakodate and Mount Rokko.

Mt Moiwa

Mount Moiwa (Moiwa-yama) is one of several small, forested mountains southwest of central Sapporo. The mountain is a popular sightseeing spot that is known for the spectacular view out over the city from an observation deck at its summit. The view is especially beautiful after sunset.
