Zuihoden Mausoleum

It is the mausoleum of Date Masamune, one of the most powerful feudal lords of the Edo Period. Zuihoden was designed in the ornate style of the Momoyama Period. It features intricate woodwork and a rich variety of vivid colors.

Osaki Hachimangu Shrine

The first guardian shrine of Sendai,with a history of 400 years and is located in a grove of cedar trees. During the Heian period, the guardian deity of Takemun, Usa Hachimangu, was invited to the present Mizusawa Shrine in Iwate Prefecture in order to pray for long-lasting military fortune.

Aoba Castle

Aoba Castle, also known as Sendai Castle (仙台城) or Gojo-ro (五城楼) is located in Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture. Aoba Castle was the home base of the powerful Date clan throughout the Edo Period (1600-1867).

Akiu Great Falls

Aki Otori Fall is one of the three famous Japanese waterfalls with a width of 6 m and a fall 55 meters. Follow the riverside promenade and enjoy a spectacular view up close while feeling the cool wind on your cheeks.

Jozenji-dori Avenue

Jozenji-dori Avenue is lined with zelkova trees, the symbol of the City of Trees. Along the avenue, in the middle of the street, stand the bronze statues of Memories of Summer by Emilio Greco and A Bathing Woman by Venanzo Crocetti, creating the feel of an open-air gallery.

Sendai Mediatheque

This multi-purpose facility houses a library and art gallery. Designed by Toyo Ito, this structure without any pillars has received many awards including "World Architecture Awards 2002 Best Building in East Asia."
