I’m so sorry for the delayed response. We jumped right back into “life” after our trip and are finally catching up with everything! We are truly grateful for all your help and greatly enjoyed our trip. If anything, we would have wanted a tour guide for another day. We really enjoyed our time in Brazil and feel that was due to your selection of guides and tour companies.
In Sao Paulo Laura was our guide. She spoke English very well and was very knowledgeable about the city and all of its sights. We were able to visit many sites by the car which she drove.
One important note relative to you sharing with other travelers, is the level of crime and danger in the city of Sao Paulo. There were several occasions in which we visited sites and we were strongly encouraged to stay in the car because of safety concerns. Also, travelers should also consider the location of their hotels because some areas are much safer than others. Our guide put in great effort to allow us to enjoy the city even with the safety issues.
In Rio we were greeted by Bruno who was on time and waiting for us as we left baggage claim. Bruno was an exceptional guide with his extraordinary knowledge of Brazil's history as well as the city. We loved our time in Rio and really got to experience the city in a personal way. Bruno was a great listener as well as guide. He did an excellent job at modifying our given itinerary in order to include things that fit our interests more substantially. We would rate Bruno as one of the best guides we have experienced.
Our driver in Rio as well as two and from Buzios was very professional. He was always dressed in a suit, was very punctual, drove very safely, and made sure he never hit a bump or pothole to hard as to jar us. Even when we requested our pickup 30 minutes earlier than planned, he was happy to accomodate us.
As far as accommodations, we were pleased with them all. The hotel in Sao Paulo was very modern and chic. We were lucky that it was in a good area and we could walk to places to eat and shop. The hotel in Rio was centrally located, right on the beach, and had a great view of Copacabana. It had more of a classic high end vibe. Finally, the hotel in Buzios was a wonderful small boutique hotel, and had a relaxing beach vibe. It and the beach that it was located on felt very secluded and off the beaten path. It was about a 25 minute walk to the town center which had all of the shops and restaurants.
